SNOW!! and such...

Today was the first snow of winter! I live in a house where the "S" word is snow, I was naturally SUPER EXCITED!!!As far as i can tell it is still snowing huge flakes which makes everything so beautiful<3 style="text-align: center;">I went out with my camera and just looked at everything. When it snows, the white sort of blankets all earths imperfections and muffles all the unattractive sounds and simply lets the earth start over. Like a blank sheet of paper I guess.
Needless to say, Tati and I will be doing a snow photo shoot :) and when i get my film developed I will post the pictures up. I think I am really cliche in my photographs because I am not a very angry person and I don't have hate or rage inside of me. It seems like all the great photographers have sadness or anger in them but I want to be known for happiness! (but not in a ditzy sort of way, genuine). I have to figure out a way to channel that into more interesting photographs. Its not so hard for me with drawings because I take pride in my awesome imagination so it's not dificult for me to just draw whatever I want but with photos, I take pictures of whats already there. Maybe I could do whole elaborate setups! Now we're talking...
BYE!
Sorry I've been such a bad blogger:(

Vintageing!

I am in the process of VINTAGEING my room! That is definitely not a word... Anyway I am starting surface by surface so the first thing I did was the table thingy I have from IKEA (luv that store). What I did was took a mirror and leaned it up against my bed. Then across the mirror I taped a wire and paper clipped some of my polaroids to it. I put some old books I found in the attic with a vintage book holder thingy. I also added the dolls and a hand-held mirror just for affect. My inspiration for the whole thing was the necklace holder doll chair. I decided to string my necklaces on it. Then there is the little box that has my bracelets and hand cream and other random stuff in it. On top of that sits some really old glasses and my perfume. So after that detailed and slightly ranty description, here are some pictures: I know the lighting is not so good but I like the way it looks in these :) Lets see what you think.

I tried out an affect for this, I think it looks really cool!

Slow Week...

Hi Guys! So nothing much has happened with me except the new blog I made with Tati! You should all check it out, http://material-evidence.blogspot.com.
Anyway, besides that I haven't done anything so I thought I would just post some photos I took on my family's trip to Puerto Rico! It was so pretty there and as the days get shorter and darker, I hope this sunny weather in the pictures will cheer you up :)

The sting ray was in water so shallow my mom almost stepped on it! The water was also shallow enough for me to take a few pics :)

Bye for now!

More Maryland

So, as you know, a couple weeks ago I went to Maryland and I finally got my film back! My Uncle thought I was crazy to use a film camera because after growing up with nothing but them, digitals seems so great. And digitals are really great, but it produces an entirely different type of picture.
Enjoy!

I gave this picture to my friend for her birthday. Obviously, it's not the best I've ever taken but it reminded me of her and i spent s long time on the idea.
My personal fave from the roll. It is so peaceful sitting up on the deck of the boat looking at the purdy sky and sparkly water. I don't know what to call this...OOH! If you have an idea for the name, email it to me and I will send you one of my images that has never been on the blog.
My Grandfathers house
There was an old falling down house we passed and i thought it looked so cool. The pictures of it came out kind of dark, for better of for worse.
The broken glass window of the house.

Hope you liked them! Please email me or comment:)

Cathy's Book

Here is book review numero dos!
Cathy's book was so good! My friend gave it to me for my birthday but then for some reason I didn't read it till about six months later... Anyway...
It is the journal of a girl named (drum roll please) Cathy who loves to draw and the book is full of doodles! This made me so happy because if you only knew the sate of my notes...
A lot of really shocking things happen to her and her friend Emma. They have to do a lot of spyish stuff involving Cathy's mysterious boyfriend and the narrator, Cathy is really funny and realistic. Here is another drawing from the book.
Most of the drawings are little doodles but there are a few big ones with added water colors.
So if you like to read mysteries or fantasy novels or like to draw, you should read this series.

Diana Camera

Here are some more pictures from over the summer that I took with my Diana+ Plastic camera.
Enjoy :)

"King"
I set up some chess pieces in my window

I don't know what to call this! It was supposed to
be of my nieghbor, Harry, but the plastic camera's do what they want so I ended up with this fantastic sky/rainbow picture! I love the element of surprise :)
"Chain Ring"
Not terribly original but I like it all the same :)
My little neighbor, wanted to wear my sunglasses and
they looked so funny on her! This is unoficialy titled "What are YOU looking at?"
"Double Take"
This was the first picture I took with my camera. I forgot to wand the film and ended up with this creepy double exposure. I like it though!

Hope you liked them!

Playing With Matches

Here is a review for a book I read, Playing With Matches, by Brian Katcher. Don't worry, no spoilers!

This was your classic "Unpopular boy likes popular girl but then falls in love with outcast" kind of story with a twist that changed it from cliche to original. Because the "outcast" has a severely deformed face from when a kerosene lamp blew up in her face as a child. When the main character Leon has to do a project with her, he realizes that they have a lot in common and despite Melody's disfiguration, they might me more than "just friends."
Then the popular, pretty girl, Amy just has to go and tell Leon she likes him!
I don't want to ruin the book for you (although simply by reading the jacket summary, I knew what was going to happen) so I won't say anymore except that sometimes I got really angry at Leon and wanted to stop reading it. But the ending is very satisfying, so keep reading!

6 Photography Tips

Don't worry, there will be more! Also none of these pictures were edited. I think edited pictures are beautiful too (trust me, I edit also! More than I need too...)but they are almost a different category or Art :)
Anyway, enjoy!

Jump for Joy!

So here's the deal: Everyone send me their best jumping pic. You can send more than one, how ever many you want! In a few weeks I will put them all together in some creative way :). Yay! I just figure that winter is coming and things are getting grayer so everyone could use a little pick-me-up. What better that jumping pictures? So get sending!

Maryland!

Today I went to Maryland with my parents, sister, friend, uncle, and grandfather. We went sailing in the Chesapeake Bay and later canoed around. I got some great photos in the sunset :) Sunset is great lighting for any picture. What I especially love to do is get pictures of people or objects with the sun directly behind them. Here are my Pictures! Hope you like them!

Every thing was so pretty :)

Camille, Emilia, took the canoe out to a marshy beach where we took some pictures.
I honestly don't know how this even happened! It's cool though.

Afternoon Bike Ride

This afternoon, I went biking with my mom in the town. There is the most beautiful tree right near my house and I decided to take some pictures of it. The leaves seem to age from the top-down. First the top gets red and it slowly spreads throughout the tree. In these pictures it is brown at the top and green at the bottom! And the sky was absolutely gorgeous!Of course then I took more pictures :) Enjoy :)

The tree. Iso pretty :)

Today...

I love rainy days because: no mater how late you wake up it is always dark, everything smells fresh, it's fun to try to catch rain-drops on your tongue (no mater how many hit you in the eye), and I get to wear my rain boots! Here are some pictures I took this morning in the drizzle. Enjoy!

This is basically just another shot of my outfit.

"Late in the Game"
I came up with the idea for this photo at Meeting for Worship the other day when I was just watching the seconds tick by on my cracked pocket watch:)It's actually stopped since then and I need to figure out how to get a new battery in there...
